A Jew's Obligation to Learn Torah (9/9)

Part Nine of “A Jew’s Obligation to Learn Torah,” an essential series of shiurim given by HaGaon Rabbi Dovid Sackton for understanding the foundational mitzvah to learn Torah based on the Birkas Shmueil on Maseches Kiddushin 27, a piece with which the Rebbe, HaGaon Rabbi Mordecai Goldstein, ztz”l, started Diaspora Yeshiva Toras Yisrael some 60 years ago, and which he would continually teach his students, year after year.

Rabbi Dovid Sackton is one of the original students of the Rebbe, ztz”l and currently serves as Rosh Mesivta of Diaspora Yeshiva. He is also the translator of the Ramchal’s comprehensive system on how to learn Torah, called Derech HaKodesh (“Way of Torah”), in English and modern Hebrew, published by Feldheim Publishers, and teaches a regular class on the subject at Diaspora Yeshiva, in addition to his regular class on the current sugiya (subject) the Yeshiva is learning.

Rabbi Sackton heads the Machon Derech HaKodesh, dedicated to spreading the derech limud (way of learning) of the Ramchal and the Darchei HaGemara of Rabbi Yitzak Kanfenton, on which he has published seforim and given va’adim in a number of Yeshivos for more than forty years.
