Diaspora Yeshiva Toras Yisrael | Mount Zion, Jerusalem
May 20th, 2024 / 12th of Iyar, 5784
A mussar shiur given this afternoon by HaRav Yitzchak Goldstein, Shlita, Rosh Yeshiva of Diaspora Yeshiva Toras Yisrael and Chief Rabbi of Mount Zion, Jerusalem and King David’s Tomb.
The Zohar HaKadosh (the Holy Zohar) says, ‘Who is a Tzadik Yesod Olam?’ (see Mishlei / Proverbs 10:25).
Who is a righteous man who is a foundation of the world, upon whom the whole world stands? What components do you need in order to be the tzadik that the world stands upon?
There are two components you need to have in order to be a righteous foundation of the world. The Zohar says: one who works hard, he toils, in Torah and he guards his bris—those two things.
Learning Torah is not enough! You must also guard your bris! Both are required for a person to be a foundation of the world. Without those two things, a person cannot be a Tzadik Yesod Olam.
I want to explain why those two components are required for a person to be a righteous foundation of the world.
